Theory and Operation of the General Motors 6.6 Liter Duramax Engine is discussed in this course. Classroom presentation along with hands on training exercises will be performed on trucks equipped with this engine. Systems instructed include engine designations, design, turbo charger operation including the new variable vane design, cooling system, EGR, glow plug engine management and fuel system operation.
Common rail diagnosis will be emphasized in this course such as fuel pressure testing both on the high and low pressure side plus injector testing and fuel injector control module (FICM) operation. Duramax engine LB7 and LLY will both be discussed.
Service information will be used to aid the technician in vehicle diagnosis. This will be supplemented with the use of the scan tool in interpreting data and using bi directional controls that are available.
